Gentlemen

Mon Jan 19, 2009, 1:04 AM
So, I was checking my messages when I came across this quiz like thing posted by Chioky. I figured I would fill it out like he asked and I ask the same of anyone who sees this.

1. Always open doors
A: I believe that this is by far the easiest thing a gentleman can do. I try to do this whenever I can, though there are the occasions where you just can't quite do it without putting yourself or the lady you are opening the door for in danger. About the only time I can think of that it would be a bad idea is if your arms are full, whether it be groceries or other such items.
2. Always be polite
A: If you can not do this one, you really should not be considered a gentleman or even a good guy. This is one of those things that is so simple that you really should not even think about.
3. Put on her coat
A: While there is a time and place for this one, where I live (in Maine of all places) it is pretty much a constant. If you do not already do this, I would recommend starting, because it is always nice to get a little extra help, even on the simple things.
4. Help with her seat
A: Yes, it may be old school and yes, it may seem trivial, but it is another thing you can do that can always come back to you.
5. Give up your seat
A: Unless you are completely unable to leave the seat; ie: on a plane or on in a car; this is something that makes you look just the slightest bit better. Odds of this coming up though is not nearly as likely as the previous ones.
6. Stand at attention
A: There is really no response for this one, because it is just a little obvious.
7. Give her your arm
A: It is polite and makes most women feel just a little more comfortable. Whether she wants to cry on your shoulder or hold your arm as you walk, this one is a good one to remember.
8. Ask if she needs anything
A: Even if you know she will say no, ask anyway. It lets them know that you care. Even if it is the smallest task, it is better to offer than assume.

If you would please copy the following and repost with your thoughts and comments on these simple tasks, that would be most appreciated. Male readers, your comments on whether or not you do these things or thoughts on what to do in these situations would be good. Female readers, what are your thoughts on these things. Do you like them or not? Thank you for your time.
